A full architectural prayer niche from Isfahan, its mosaic tilework carrying Qur'anic verses around the outer frame and a hadith inscription bordering the arch, calligraphy and geometric tilework, no figures. One of the most-reproduced single objects in Islamic-art teaching. Mosaic of polychrome-glazed cut tiles on stonepaste body, set into mortar. Iran, Isfahan, dated 755 AH / 1354–55 CE.
